What did you learn about “lifelong wellness” from taking this course? -I learned that in order to live a healthy life, you must incorporate a healthy diet and a little bit of exercise. Having a healthy meal will balance give you energy; doing so exercise, such as cardio or any other you choose to do, will allow you to live a balanced healthy life as well as provide you with the energy you need to last a lifetime. I also learn that living a healthy life it's not only eating healthy and exercising, you have to take care of yourself in any other way. Zumba is a great way of exercising will having fun. It also helps clear your mind if you are stressed.
How has learning about and applying “lifelong wellness” concepts impacted your life (home, school, work, etc.)? -Lifelong wellness made me a better person. Zumba helped me develop more responsibility, not only with school and work, but with my life and health as well. Thanks to all the thinks I learned about nutrition and and exercise, I've become a healthier person. Now, I have a meal plan incorporated with an exercise plan than helps me clear my mind as well as concentrated better with m school work and my work life.
Discuss specific lifelong wellness concepts learned in this course and how you are going to implement them in your life? -They are different ways of stimulating our brain. In class we work with dance moves. Every move we do to one side, later on we do it to the other side. Every dance move we do, later on another dance move is added to the once we just did, consequently forming a choreography. Following the choreography maintains your brain active calculating what move comes next. Same thing happens in life. When we walk, we alternate our legs, which stimulates our brain by analyzing which leg goes first and what leg goes after. When we walk, our brain is also being stimulated by our surroundings. Brain stimulation is a healthy way of developing new techniques and finding new ways of pushing yourself forward to do what's best for your and your health.
General ideas for improving this course? -I wouldn't change a thing. In fact, I will keep taking the class until I graduate just because it is the most fun I've ever had while exercising. I believe everyone should at less take this class one in their entire college experience.
My Plate; Life; Health I used three apps: “My Plate”, “Life”, and “Health”. First of all, “My Plate” helped me keep track of my food journal by allowing me to make a meal plan with an amount of calories per day. Second of all, “Life” helps me keep track my menstrual cycle and how exercising helps regulate it. Lastly, “Health” helps me keep track of my heart beat and daily steps (running, walking, distance...). These apps are helpful, specially to be used in class because it helps you keep track of your health, and for those of us that have a busy schedule, having a digital device that keeps track of your health and send you notifications reminding you when to eat and how much you need to eat per day, or simply how many days you have left in your cycle (women only) its a very helpful way of living healthy.
